I have put them in a water pond with bricks under them to keep them right at the water level.

Hey everybody Well that's about what I thought...you all seem to be on the same page. My problem is that my pond doesn't really lend itself to onlysubmerging part of the pot or even the whole thing because it's 3' deep withno edges. I submerge the pots just beneath the water. Make sure that you cover the surface of the medium in the pot with sand or gravel so that no potting medium floats up. It is better to use a mix made for waterlilies. There should be no perlite in that mix.
