Thanks for the site, Barb. Bookmarked it.

May I recommend www.homedecorators.com for quite a good selection
of knockdown furniture and decent prices, excellent service. Not
quite as cheap as Ikea, but I have ordered probably ten pieces from
them over the years.

I guess it wouldn't be so bad if they leveled with you up front:
"Shipping time: Nearly forever." But they give you this 5-7
business days nonsense, which turns out to be after they find it
in a warehouse someplace and transfer it to a commercial trucking
company--a process that seems to take 3 or 4 weeks for some
reason. Grrr. Anyway, if I'm ever tempted to buy from them again,
I'll drive up to the store in Portland and haul it home myself,
but for some reason I don't see that happening.

My old boss ordered a desk from IKEA and they had the same
problem...slow
delivery, and then after the wait, there were wrong parts in
there...and it

right part to be
sent. Total of about 3 months before he got everything he needed
to put his
desk together.

Finally beginning to
feel at home here. Spent most of yesterday and
part of today assembling two
chests of drawers from IKEA. They
should've warned me. At the very least,
the box should have said "Not
suitable for assembly by persons over 70 years
of age." It could've
also said "Having three hands highly recommended." I'm
so stiff and
sore I can barely keep my most used body parts in operation.
We won't go into why it took a month for IKEA to deliver the kits--
only to
say they are a very difficult company to communicate with. But
now the
chests are done and I can load the drawers and quit living out
of suitcases,
backpacks, and plastic bags.
