I hear it was 99F yesterdayalthough it didn't seem that bad at my house, it's still breezy which helps quite a bit. Pea plants were done so I dug them out. Total was around 14 pounds ofsnow peas, I'm pretty happy with that. The spinach is starting to bolt but I still have lettuce since it got a much later start. We'll have to eat a lot of salad though because it won't last long in this weather. I see proto-squash on some of the zucchini plants, won't be too many weeks before zucchini starts, but I don't see as many tomatoes forming as I'd like. I did pick three bell peppers! While they got beat up pretty good by the wind after I put them out, a few of them still fruited and all of them are now recovering leaves tho they have a ways to go before lookinglush. Corn is looking happy and my cukes and melons are coming along, the onions look huge already. I meant to direct seed some basil yesterday but didn't get to it. I had to take one of the dogs to the vet last week to get a foxtailremoved from her ear. Second time in a month. DH suddenly realized thatif he'd fixed the weed-eater back in February like I asked, we'd haveavoided $500 in vet bills by knocking down all that stuff before it went to seed. He spent Saturday with his new weed-eater so that's now taken care of...but now we have loose foxtails all over the yard. Oh well, itlooks nicer anyway. But no action without unintended consequences youknow, he took the tractor out just to make one last pass and the driveshaft to the mower attachment fell out and got mangled. I don't know what a replacement costs but I bet it isn't cheap. The best part - besides chores well done and sitting in my chair hammockwith a beer - was finding my wedding ring I thought I lost in the mountains last weekend. I found it inside our sleeping bag in thetrailer. Maybe I dreamed I was putting on hand lotion? Anyway...woohoo!Cyndi --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT13:35:00 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT
