Re: Denver
Can't really answer your qstn, but 5 days on a train brings to mind....
Back in 1979, I sold my 1970 HO Trans Am to a collector in El Paso and my
husband and I drove it down to him in May. From there we hopped a little
plane to Las Vegas and won $500. Then we took the train home. Three days on
a train - and we didn't get a berth. Jerry was a pretty fastidious guy and
I still remember the look on his face as he came back from brushing his
teeth in the bathroom. Apparently, a convict (in custody) traveling to his
daughter's funeral told him he thought that a good toothbrushing was a fine
idea and would Jerry mind lending him his brush when he was done?
We changed trains in Ogden Utah in the middle of the night. We went through
some fabulous country but the sight-seeing cars that had the glass-domed
roofs (rooves?) were so dirty from the outside, it really detracted from the
view. That was one lonnnnnnggggggg train ride.
Your trip sounds like much more fun with interesting stops along the way.
