A lot of people don't read newspapers. And a lot of people just view pets
as throw away items. Sad but true. Re your local rescue program. Is there
any chance of a fundraising program? I know you don't have the time to
coordinate such a thing, but a suggestion to the right people might get the
ball rolling. They could even do fundraisers that aren't connected to
animals, like a bulb sale. Some of these types of f-r sales don't take
tremendous effort.
