Re: Christmas cactus

A piece in a recent Cactus & Succulent Society Journal confirmed 
what I have long suspected - those bloom-all-at-once plants have
been specifically bred to do that.  Florists want a plant that makes
a great show - they don't care if it is past soon after the purchaser
gets it home.  The ones that stay in bloom all season are the old
standards, but usually just the original magenta color.  The pretty
colors are newer hybrids.  There was a lot of technical material
in the article that I don't recall.  I'll have to look it up to see if there
was anything more applicable here.
