Man, that's tough. Never had that experience [only thing ever had to pull was a calf; it didn't make it either], but I can imagine the feeling. :(

not nurse so we are tube feeding them, and they cannot get up without
assistance and cannot take more than a few steps. At least the ewe seems to
have come through it without major problems, but we'll have to get rid of
her now.
You win some and you lose some. I am not emotionally attached but it's
distressing nonetheless. We have two more to go, I'm sure hoping for better
outcomes.

We have our first new faces of the season, twin ewe lambs born this
morning.
Of course it is cold and raining, that's how sheep decide when to give
birth. All winter it was dry, but now... Anyway they looked pretty good,
both of them up and looking for the milk faucets. We couldn't tell for
sure
if they were nursing - some ewes don't mind you crawling underneath to
make
sure the baby is latched on, but this one was getting pretty nervous so we
left everyone alone. They are in their little shelter and hopefully mom
will
not lead them out into the rain. I always fret the first day but they did
look strong and healthy, so chances are good all will be well (wish I had
a
webcam out there). Three more to go!
I was going to have husband rototill this weekend but if the rain does not
let up, he can't. The paper claimed it might even snow but I don't think
it's cold enough for that. Maybe in the hills. I have got to start my
tomato
and pepper seeds though, I'm way behind. And it's past time to plant peas.
Of course, I have scaled back the veg garden - no really! I did! - so it
isn't such a big deal.
