You are correct. Our ground never freezes here. But get a 6 to 12 month
drought going on, and pipes will start to pop. And you see people watering
their slab foundations. I'm always amazed more of them don't plant along
the foundations since they have to water anyway.

So your concerns are when it is to dry rather than the freezing &
thawing
that we experience.
