RE: Hydrangeas (was Wisteria question)

For two years I had a nice hydrangea in the corner underneath the office
window. But there was this huge juniper threatening to overgrow it. After
taking a look at the front of the house we got rid of that juniper plus a
couple others, which vastly improved the look of the front, but must have
taken away some kind of wind/sun/cold protection from the hydrangea. It
promptly started to shrink over the summer and died to the ground that
winter. I've not been able to get another one to grow as nicely, they have
all frozen back each winter.
So I'm thinking about Hydrangea macrophylla "Endless Summer", maybe that one
will work for me.

Do you know how long before they bloom if they were seedlings when planted?

Hydrangea paniculata 'Grandiflora' (P-G) I'm pretty sure this is the one
they train for tree hydrangeas.
