Noreen, I've never had a plant that was specifically targeted next to a
"keeper" plant that was affected by the RoundUp I used on the targeted plant
(unless I got in on the "keeper" plant's leaves.) Maybe the others in the
group have had a different experience, but that is mine.
My dad used to cut a trunk to the ground, hollow it out a little and fill it
with salt to keep it from coming back, but I don't know what that does to
the surrounding area when the trunk rots.

Thanks.....and doing this will not hurt the surrounding plants??? I'm
always hesitant to use any type of herbicide. Have heard that it travels
through the roots and can affect other plants touching these roots. Is
this true???
