We only just got it in last spring, from cuttings It is supposed to bloom very young and some of ours did, though the blooms weren't large on small plants. I got 2 for myself. They put on quite a bit of growth through the season. The next few months will tell how well they made it through the winter.
I also bought 'Hartlage Wine' this spring from Rare Plants, though I see that Plant Delights is carrying it too, and possibly Song Sparrow as well. That's the one I always wanted ever since Dan Hinkley featured it in an article for Horticulture several years ago when these Calycanthus were just coming out. I am really looking forward to it.
I haven't had enough time w Venus to express an opinion but if it's half as good as the articles on it, I'll be happy.

I have been looking atCalycanthus 'Venus' but have never seen it other than photos. Song Sparrow has thatavailable. What do you think of this plant? Are the blooms showy & fragrant?
