Re: [CHAT] what is WITH  > lists

We only just got it in last spring, from cuttings It is supposed to bloom very young and some of ours did, though the blooms weren't large on small plants. I got 2 for myself. They put on quite a bit of growth through the season. The next few months will tell how well they made it through the winter.

I also bought 'Hartlage Wine' this spring from Rare Plants, though I see that Plant Delights is carrying it too, and possibly Song Sparrow as well. That's the one I always wanted ever since Dan Hinkley featured it in an article for Horticulture several years ago when these Calycanthus were just coming out. I am really looking forward to it.

I haven't had enough time w Venus to express an opinion but if it's half as good as the articles on it, I'll be happy.

Calycanthus 'Venus'

Kitty, I found your list interesting, too. I have been looking at
Calycanthus 'Venus' but have never seen it other than photos. Song Sparrow has that
available. What do you think of this plant? Are the blooms showy &
fragrant?
