Re: opuntia replacement

I have a flat of O humifusa arriving next month and a couple will be going into our Rockgarden, the rest are for sale. But thanks for offering. We have a rule that no two gardens should have identical plants. They could have the same genus, species, but must be different cultivar, variety, or forma.
They can be close, but no cigar.

I have seen what I think is a mammilaria growing in southern MN, but
that was before I could identify species... They are native to every
state except Maine, NH, and VT. They grow from Canada to Patagonia,
but unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with those varieties. If you need
O. humifusa, I could send you a pad - it is easy to root.

Can anyone suggest a hardy cactus for zone 5 other than Opuntia
humifusa (syn. O. compressa) and Opuntia ficus-indica?
One of the gardens put in their request late and won't get the
plant because another garden requested it before the deadline. I
told them I'd search for something similar.
