Wow- that's scary! On a positive note- my cat who has been licking all the fur off of it's belly, has stopped! There is actually a little fluff growing back. This was after the vet tried a round of antibiotics- which resulted in major diarreha- so we stopped after a week, but it seems to have done something!

Virulent systemic calicivirus (VS-FCV) can kill healthy cats within 24-48 hours. Clinical signs include facial and limb swelling, oral ulcers, high fever, ulcerative dermatitis, and organ dysfunction. Fortunately there is a new vaccine for this disease that we have incorporated into our vaccination protocol for feline patients. Canine influenza (Dog Flu) emerged as a threat early in 2006 [symptoms similar to Kennel Cough] accompanied by severe pneumonia. This disease also has a high mortality rate and there is no vaccine currently available."From his newsletter that arrived yesterday:He told me of a case in PA in which a woman brought 3 cats in for wellness checks, all got clean bills of health, but were all dead 3 days later because they contracted the disease from a public scale in the vet's waiting room.Kitty neIN, Zone 5 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Daryl" <pulis@mindspring.com> To: "gardenchat" <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Saturday, March 17, 2007 9:48 AM Subject: [CHAT] Pet Food Recallhttp://www.menufoods.com/recall/ http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/03/17/petfood.recall.ap/Of course, one of the brands on the list is one that has many, many of thevarieties we've been feeding. :-(I've got to wonder if some of the problems my dogs have had the last couple of month are related. My vet says that there have been 9 deaths, and the USDA isinvestigating, but nothing's conclusive so far. d --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT--------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT
