Our neighbor to the back had a bamboo that spread terribly and
killed off my
border of flowering shrubs. Then she rented a bulldozer
and tried to dig it out -
took most of two summers before she gave up and had
someone come in and
dig up the whole area.
On the other hand, I have had a nice, clumping bamboo - grows
about eight feet
high - and it has done very nicely om a spot on a hilly knoll
for the past 40 years
or so - came from the grounds of the old St. Peter's
School (now long gone) in
Peekskill, NY.
I have a few snowdrops blooming, and a couple of early daffs
that got crushed
by last week's snow. I hope that when the snow is gone -
still about a foot on
the beds, etc. - that my Hellebores which were so lovely
before the snow will
manage to revive a bit.
At least the goldfinches are now showing bright yellow
feathers on their shoulders
and backs. That's a sure sign of spring for
me.
Happy spring!
Auralie
