I too have missed this group routinely chatting. I think of all of you often. So nice to hear from so many of us. Thank you all for the kind words regarding our Zeke. As well as being fellow gardeners I know many of you are also animal lovers. This was especially hard on my oldest granddaughter Sophie as she and Zeke came into the family at the same time. For my 3 grown children, he was the last of their childhood pets.
We do have one dog Fiona and 2 cats left but they may end up being the last ones as Marty and I have been traveling a lot the past few years and anticipate doing more when we eventually retire. He has about 3-5 years to go, I have less than 10. Woo hoo!
We have a 21 day trip planned to Greece in September... really hoping we can still go!!

Tomorrow is his 93 birthday, and I still manage pretty well for91. My gardens have pretty much gone to pot since I can no longer work in them, but I have hadfor the past week the most spectacularly beautiful white hellebore - it has at least 35 blooms, andis really lovely. There is a pretty lavender one, too, as well as lots of the common purple kind.My early daffs are handsome, too, and I can see more of the late ones coming.
As I said, we can't do garden work any more, and the help I can get doesn't do it the way I want.I do have a very good helper who comes in half a day twice a week - one day to organize the garbagefor pick up ( I have cats so there are three bags of kitty-litter to carry up from the basement and Ijust find heavy lifting is too bad for my bad back ) and the other day to take me to the grocery store, bring things is, and take the new kitty-litter bags downstairs. She is also very good at the other smallchores. The cleaning woman that usually comes twice a week, has called in sick with tonsilitis - hopeshe recovers soon, because things need to be done. The way things are going with this crazy virus, who knows what next week will be. I'm glad to hearof things that are working out.As ever, AuralieIt's always heart-rending losing a baby. Sending virtual hugs....

My 83 year old mother is staying with us so we are trying to keep her as protected as possible. My husband is a custodian at one of the high schools here so he is getting extra pay for the duration as he is one of the only school district employees still having to show up for work everyday. My daughters are nursing assistants at the hospital and having to work with extremely limited PPE so I worry about them A LOT.It snowed here Sunday. I had to have my elderly dog put down that night. They weren't letting humans into the building because of Covid-19 so they took him inside to put the IV in then brought him back out to my car. I'm standing outside in the middle of a heavy wet snowstorm with my hatchback open, cuddling with him while the vet injected him. I didn't want him to die alone with no one there who loved him. He was a good boy and lived a good long life. His pneumonia was not responding to antibiotics. It was the right decision for him.I need spring to get here so I can get back into my gardens. That will help.My son and his wife bought a house this winter and they're asking me for help in planning their gardens...so that's been fun.Take care all and stay healthy!
