Re: Yahoo! Photos: tchessie's photo(s)/callas/

I believe so. A. tuberosa is the one that does not like my full sun, nicely draining, good soil perennial bed. My A. incarnata does just great for me in my "swamp" and always returns!

Are we all talking Asclepias tuberosa here? It likes moist- not wet! It

did dry out at times? Now that it would like.... and I really thought it
liked sun too....

Just confused as always...

Me, too. I have butterfly weed in a shady, tight spot with day lilies
that
get early morning sun, a raised area in the sun and in another sunny
bed
that gets pretty good drainage. In East TN, butterfly weed grows
wild,
usually in sunny spots with steep slopes. Hope this helps.

Really? I have my butterfly weed in three different gardens...all
different
light, moisture and soil. They have come back for the second
year....all
of
them. How strange that yours doesn't?

Don't think butterfly weed would stand the wet. By the way, anyone
have
hints as to how to get it to survive more than a growing season? My
swamp
milkweed does great, and self seeds, butterfly weed wimps out after
one
year. (Yes, they are planted in entirely different areas!)
