Ok- the spot is mucky for lack of a better term- not sure what it is going
to be like mid summer since the tree that once was there was removed last
year.  So I suspect it may get dryer.  This is all an adventure- but I'm
willing to test a few different plants and see what works, recognizing that
some may die on the way.  So, will get some dwarf cannas and try the
asclepias (they are redily available here).  Thanks all and I'll keep you
posted.

Are we all talking Asclepias tuberosa here? It likes moist- not wet! It
will not last standing in water. I thought Theresa had a moist area that
did dry out at times? Now that it would like.... and I really thought it
liked sun too....
