Um, I'm sorry to chirp in here but I know of no systemic that will keep
spider mites away. We were still on spider mites weren't we? In fact, some
systemic that key on sucking insects will attract mites. Mites are a
different critter than most. Hard shells make them impervious to most
insecticides. Many insecticides that are all purpose will list mites but
really are not effective. Oils will work or true miticides that are only
used on mites. Even miticides do not kill the eggs and so you need to spray
again in three days unless you get an ovacide. True miticides and ovacides
are very expensive. Stick with the water and make sure you take care of the
host plants that don't necessarily show the effects of mites can house them
and be a base camp for attacking other more prone plants.
