Kitty, my oldest tree peony, purple,  has 22 buds and should open soon.  The 
foliage on it is very different than my yellow one which i have had 3 yrs.  I 
mentioned I had debudded this one the past 2 yrs leaving only one bloom.  I am 
going to let it bloom this year & it has 12 buds.  These buds are very tight 
yet.
