bug question

I have what is conceivably a dumb question about a very common insect.  We
call them squito eaters.  Do they really eat mosquitoes and if so how the heck
can they catch one?  They seem to be the worlds worst flyers and look as if
they are hovering over walls trying to catch something that has landed on the
walls.  Can anybody tell me what is the story on these guys?
