I think location & sun exposure make a difference with the miniture iris. Of
the ones I've planted, the healthiest stand is in full sun on the south side
of a boulder. The next best is between the base of a walnut tree and a
railroad tie barrier, again on the south side & in full sun until the tree
leafs out.
