No Roundup (husband knows better than to even go near it - he does enough plant damage with the lawn mowers!); no animals (pets) sleeping near it and no evidence of the wild sort; we had frost, of course, but no other daylily shows similar signs; as said in the "King and I" - "It's a puzzlement".

Definitely not a daylily expert, so hopefully Chris (LI) will respond.
But have you researched all the other options that 'could' have happened?
Frost, husband with roundup, animal sleeping nightly on that side of the
plant?

I have a large number of healthy happy daylilies, but today I noticed
something new, and I suspect ominous, on one, purchased healthy last
year. The leaves on half the plant are yellow. I looked for insects and
found none, and saw no evidence of rust. Is this serious? Enough to
warrant digging and destroying the plant? I certainly do not want to
endanger my others. Help!
