Bonnie,
One plant on your list that I've been very happy with is Penstemon barbatus
'Coccineus'. It blooms for a really long time if it's happy. It needs good
drainage and I believe full sun. I've planted two more varieties,
P.'Prairie Dusk' and P. 'Blue Buckle', and they are looking great after the
winter.
I've tried Sagina subulata,Irish Moss, but I've lost it over the winter.

I just finished spending my Christmas plant money at the little place called
"The Greenery." I got four each for $24 total:
Lobelia 'Fan Blue,' Verbena Bonariensis, Penstemon barbatus 'Coccineus,'
Lychnis chalcedonica, Delphinium nudicaule 'Laurin,' Sagina subulata,
Dianthus barbatus (mixed) and Alyssum montanum 'Luna.'
Anyone have experience with any of these near a zone 5? I'm going to have a
good time the next day it is dry enough to plant!
Blessings,
Bonnie (SW OH - zone 5)
