I would think it is the same reason as human's sigh. Some sigh from
boredom. Perhaps from frustration (not being allowed to do something he/she
wants to do.) [My dogs sigh most often when they'd like to do something but
don't because it would get them into trouble with a harsh look or a stern
word and a squirt from the water bottle.] Others from squelching a pain
reaction. Other's yet because it is a habit when sitting or standing or
changing positions.
