I'd say those people have more money than sense.

And, some people import them in...when my parents were living in GA, my Dad
told me that a hunt club brought some in for sport. Of course, they are
intelligent and were soon all over the place getting into domesticated
animals.

I am sending you so many hugs and prayers. I will light a candle in my garden outside tonight in memory of your precious babies. Man, if I lived closer I'd be out there with the local law enforcment shooting them. I don't believe in shooting animals..but my husband and kids know that the ONE animal I would shoot is a coyote. They carry rabies a lot of times and they can destroy a goat or sheep herd in one night if you have a large pack of them. In fact, my husband shot one that was rabid in the barn once (in the middle of the day...which is odd for a coyote to be seen during the day...and it was sitting up on top of a few bales of hay and didn't even try to run when Robert walked in....so he knew something wasn't right with it). Coyotes have been moving closer and closer into the city in the past few years too. In some midwestern towns, people shoot them and take them in to the county office and they actually PAY people by the pelt because they are trying to thin them out. The TN wildlifepeoplehave said we have had a huge jump in coyotes this year and that the onlywayto deal with them was with shotguns. The mayor has approved shootingthem,so I guess that's what the policeman is going to do.
