I think that *all* of us would do things for critters than we would do for people.

How much do little kittens eat? I got a can of tuna into the little guy- maybe 6 ounces. Bought some cat food pouches that were 5 ounces. How many does he/she need?

It worked out all right in that the carrier was a very large one. I put the litter at the rear and fed him at the front.
He just cowered and hissed when I changed it. You know I would go to lengths with cats that I would never consider for people.

What do you do with a litter pan in that instance? We have small dog carrier that's maybe 2' long and a foot wide. Seems awfully close for food and litter.

Daryl, the last time I got a feral kitten we trapped him in a cat carrier. I put a string through one of the holes in back and tied it to the wire door, which I left open. I put an open can of cat food inside and waited. When the kitten went into the carrier I quickly pulled the door shut. Crookshanks lived in the carrier (with a small litter pan) for about two weeks because he was so afraid. He is the gentlest of cats today.

A kitten was at my doorstep at 6:30 this morning. I've spent hours trying to get to know it, leaving several servings of tuna in a dish for it so that it can eat (obviously very hungry and meowing), and haven't been able to get close enough to catch it. I picked up some cat food on my way home from physical therapy this afternoon and will try that. The kitten has gobbled everything I've given it as soon as I left the area.

My latest encounter led to the kit being terrified by Henrietta II (Rhode Island Red Chicken) who came running to mama to see what goodies were going to come her way.

I'm exhausted and the kit is so very small, and there are lots of big storms coming. I'd like to get the poor little one into a dry and safe spot.

I also have two dogs that don't know diddly about cats except to chase feral cats out of the yard - that habit courtesy of an adoptee. I don't know whether they haven't noticed the kit, or whether it still has that baby smell that seems to give kits and pups immunity.

Help, please.
