Hi Daryl, I am not much of a cut-flower person either. Columbine can be used but often a little fragile. Here are some other suggestions from our master gardener's list (Sierra foothills) -- herbaceous peony, yarrow, cone flower, gaillardia, shasta daisy, coreopsis, gaura lindheimeri, geum quellyon, summer phlox, rudbeckia.
