From the listings in my old Sunset Western Garden Book (rev. 1973), only one purple leaf plum shows few to none fruits--the cultivar "Krauter Vesuvius". Newer editions of SWGB probably list others. What is, is. What isn't, isn't. Try not to confuse the two.
