| Yep sure sounds like auralie. Good to hear from all....I lost lots of plants over the years but most this winter. Of course maybe they will Castillo’s show up. I am hoping our -50 winter that killed many marginal plants also killed the bug Killing so many trees here. My elm looks terrible and told my husband it has to go. My bald cypress has roots sprouting everywhere. Since it is near the pond he went over the liner not thru it to find water... really strange knobs everywhere. Not sure what to do about it... my anemones are almost gone.... a few here and there but lotsa ground there now.
Totally get the old age issue. I can’t do nearly as much as I used too. Get tired sore and crabby. Lol.
Have many spaces this year. Not sure what I want to plant. Need plants/bushes that take not much maintenance but offer diff season interest.

I'm so glad to hear from you folks, but frustrated because I can't get out to dig in my garden

I wouldn’t have thought Japanese Anemones would be a problem in your area. Is it A. tomentosa aka Robustisima? It is Zones 4-7. I have to dig out the travelers every year or it would take over. But it’s not that many for me. I see some of the A x hybrid varieties can go as far as Zone 8 though.
I grew Society Garlic once, so pretty. But it’s not hardy here.

Oh yes- the mistakes that keep on giving. : p I am still trying to kill japanese anemone. I have done regular round up, full strength undiluted (this worked best so far), the round up for poison ivy, pulling, digging, trying to smother, etc. Everything else in my garden (veggie beds included) is organic. But this is once exception.... I am winning this war, but it has been years!!! and it still returns. I haven't done the high octane vinegar, but going to look on amazon for it next. My other nemesis is society garlic- soooo many little bulbs that all grow a million more. I have pulled and dug up a million at least!
other than that, my garden is plugging along. Had to cut my giant ash tree, so I now have full south-west sun where once there was tons of shade. This summer will determine what fries and dies, and what can survive.... So I am expecting some changes and replanting in fall.

I’m in the same boat as you with a few mistakes that I’ve made. I been trying to kill that campanula, chameleon vine, etc. Now I’ve found that garlic mustard has invaded the outer edges of my cultivated garden areas. There is no way that I can pull it all. My neighbors never pull it, so the seed spreads all over my place. And what I can’t pull ends up adding more seed. I’ve tried smothering it with leaves. I might try some organic herbicide. It’s overwhelming!

I only use Round-Up for Heavy Brush and Poison Ivy. In your case I might try the Dr. Earth Weed Killer which is organic. Ordinary Round-Up takes about three weeks to work.

Now I’m at an area where I originally planted it and there is not much else there. Since there are so many tiny seedlings everywhere, I know I’ll be fighting it for years to come around the valuable plants. But here where there’s little else, do you think Roundup might be in order?
