houseplants and war


I just read this quote from Henry Mitchell's "One Man's Garden" regarding houseplants:

"...And these plants are like the Vietnam War -- once you have invested
enough labor and woe, you are strangely unwilling to acknowledge that it
was a stupid mistake to begin with. You just go on and on."


Perhaps this quote should be updated?
