I also have an extensive LP record collection that I plan to transfer to CDs. 
There are places that will do the transfer for a fee but I have not found any 
locally. You can also feed the output of your record deck into the computer 
sound card and do it that way too but it will require some technical 
knowledge and special software. I have recorded a few songs using the 
computer microphone but the audio quality isn't very good and you need to 
contend with the dog barking or the phone ringing in the background.
