Dirr rates Exchorda Zones 4-8, and blooming in March in Georgia. Our zone 5 nurseries show it blooming in May.

The catalog lists it as Zone 5 and so does MOBOT. I'd never heard of it and
the pictures I found looked pretty neat. My main concern was the bloom
time. If it bloomed in April, the show would be over before we have our
first sale in May - these will arrive here May 06 and be for sale in May 07.
I figure being at the north end of its hardiness, it might bloom later than
April as some sources list. I'm glad you like it too, gives me confidence
it will sell.

Sorry to be so late in replying to this post. There are a few peoplearoundhere who still grow pearl bush. It's generally only found at very old
homesites. I think it is beautiful, but I didn't realize it would grow as
far north as you are.
