Kitty and all,
Yes, I can be accused of lurking but I eventually do read all emails.
Unfortunately by the time I read them they are no longer current so
responding wouldn't be proper. I have been extremely busy at a local animal
shelter that was converted to no-kill 6 months ago. Many issues and a lot of
work but the light at the end of the tunnel is visible, although just
barely. I did adopt Justine, a 3 year old German Shepard that had been at
the shelter for about a year and a half. A beautiful lady and a constant
companion who seldom leaves my side.
Not a great garden year for me. Summer was very hot and dry. Japanese
beetles came in great numbers and munched on most everything and convinced
me to give away my Kopper King Hibiscus. In the three years I had it, I
never had a flower that wasn't ravaged by the beetles. My Brugmansias didn't
put on their typically great show, only so-so. The bright point this year
was that my yellow Lady Slipper orchid finally came up and bloomed after
being dormant since I planted it two years ago. It was worth the wait.
