Re: Happy Birthday Island Jim!

Re using window ledges. I picked up some pressed glass sandwich trays(anyone else remember these? In the 50s, mom & her friends would get together for tupperware parties or whatever & out would come the glass sandwich trays with matching cups. Mom & her friend bought the same pattern so they could pool resources for bigger groups.) at a thrift shop. I got rectangular ones 6x10 inches. Just the right width to use as pot trays on my window ledges. Look very pretty in the sun.
Judy B z 6 Idaho, picked some alpine strawberries today & have some violets & primroses blooming. Crazy weather.30s at night, 60s by afternoon. Some trees are leafless, others are hanging on to their bright colors. Ski areas near here had there earliest open date in 4 years.

In my new office at work, I have a ton of windows with 10 inch ledges. I am
trying to over winter some plants there- if it works, look out next season!

BTW, I took some cuttings from my fancy geraniums. Odd that one variety has
been in water for 3 weeks and not one root has appeared- still alive and
looking well in it's jar of water, but I don't understand it, thoughts
anyone? The others are doing fine and putting out roots- need to pot them
up.

Happy Birthday! Those plants look lovely. Wish I had more space with
appropriate light for houseplants - mine are inside for the winter
and quite crowded. My Laeliocattleya x Brassavola-Laeliocattleya has
just bloomed. I have two scented 5 inch orchids! (Would have had 3,
but a cat trying to get to the windowsill broke off the third bud.)
