Ceres, do you use the burlap as an animal deterent or wind/temp
protection? The KnockOuts came through hardiness-wise their first
winter, just ended up gnawed to the ground during spring. The JM always
seems to get chewed by something. I did fence it last year, but
apparently not well enough.

I wrap my two smaller J Maples with burlap. I only cover roses the first yr
and do have a KO that will receive a rose cone this year. Clethra are the
rabbit favorites in my garden. I put wire cages around both.
