I lived in Key West for 12 years and while there I worked as a victim advocate for the state attorney. I was also in charge of rape victim advocate volunteers from all over the Keys. You get to meet a lot of law enforcement types that way. And the judges were all either assistant state attorneys or assistant public defenders before getting elected to the bench. The circuit court judge in the Upper Keys office is just adorable.
