How would you do a brine? Tricia ----- Original Message ----- From: "james singer" <islandjim1@verizon.net>

Turkey turned out very well--tender and juicy--but not much of the chili paste flavors seeped in, so that was a bit of a disappointment. I think next time, I'll brine the turkey and add the chipotles to the brine and see what that does. Think I'll make a pot of white chili today with some of the leftovers. On Nov 23, 2006, at 6:54 PM, pdickson wrote:I just had to chime in ... Jim I can't wait to hear how your turkey turned out. I fixed a 20lb turkey that I stuffed the insides with the ends of 2 celery, orange, lemon, onion, salt and pepper. I saw on one of the food channels to put pats of butter under the skin so I tried that this year. I think this was the best turkey EVER. I always make the dressing like my mom did but this year it was the worst I have ever made. :-( I think I toasted the bread and cornbread too much, chopped the onions and celery too much and added too much sage, yuck!Oh well it is over!I hope everyone had a great day. It was beautiful here... about 70 something sunny and no wind. I wish we had our Christmas lights up but maybe tomorrow!Tricia ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kitty" <kmrsy@comcast.net> To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Thursday, November 23, 2006 5:18 PM Subject: Re: [CHAT] Happy T-Day everyoneso, how'd the bid taste? I did a simple breast in a cooking bag, came out moist and tasty. Had way too much food, but it all seemed to come out on time. Cleaning up now. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I have lots to be thankful for.Kitty neIN, Zone 5----- Original Message ----- From: "james singer" <islandjim1@verizon.net>To: "Garden Chat" <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Thursday, November 23, 2006 9:31 AM Subject: [CHAT] Happy T-Day everyoneJust put the bird--well, just the breast--in the oven. Trying something new this year; I covered it with a chipotle-pasilla paste [of my own making].Island Jim Southwest Florida 27.0 N, 82.4 W Hardiness Zone 10 Heat Zone 10 Minimum 30 F [-1 C] Maximum 100 F [38 C] --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT--------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT--------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHATIsland Jim Southwest Florida 27.0 N, 82.4 W Hardiness Zone 10 Heat Zone 10 Minimum 30 F [-1 C] Maximum 100 F [38 C] --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT
