Somehow doubt it'd keep the gnawers out. Hardware cloth would be better; might have to anchor it with thin-wire ground staples.

They are the big yellow nylon bags that daffodils come in. I'm thinking about netting the pots. Do you think this would be a deterrent? They would allow moisture and air circulation, would they be strong enough to keep the little buggers out?
