Re: Where is everyone?

Finally turned the heat on. It was 56 in here when I got home tonight. Since the upcoming days will only have mid40s for highs and little or no sun, I thought I should go ahead and turn it on. I am trying to keep my usage low as the forecast for gas for the home is not supposed to be that good for this winter. I have winterized a bit. Half my house has new windows, but the bedrooms still have the old windows. I've put 1-inch thick R-5 insulation in those windows. I wonder though if, by blocking the sun from those rooms (if & when it bothers to shine in January), does it reduce the warmth it might get from the sun.

Not much going on here, Bonnie.

Kinda chilly--low 50s--but I did a bit of weeding in the raised beds
this morning. Nichols Garden Nursery's 2009 catalog arrived Saturday,
so I started thinking about next year.

Which reminds me--Ever read Katharine S. White's "Upward and Onward in
the Garden"? She wrote reviews of nursery and seed catalogs for the
New Yorker and this book is essentially a collection of those reviews.
Very entertaining.
