Re: Where is everyone?

working. They bunched all my work days around & during the weekend & all I want to do is vegetate in front of the tube when I get home. I did stay up & watch Johnny Depp & Helena Bonham-Carter in Sweeney Todd on Saturday. It sounded too gory for me & it was, I hid my eyes a lot. What gorgeous music, though. It amazes me that folks who write the book for musicals can fit such wonderful stuff into such a horrible gruesome story. Judy B z 6 Idaho warmish & foggy this am, sunny afternoon & evening, clear tonight. Hope it hold warmish & clear so I can get my bulbs planted. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Donna" <gossiper@sbcglobal.net>

Turned my heat on when I seen the flurries flying a couple of days ago.
Thankfully, it didn't accumulate. Supposed to go down to 28 tonight.

I have been tending to mom, who came home from rehab while juggling enough
time at work to keep things somewhat timely there. With spending all of my
time at mom's, my house, garden, etc have all been severely neglected here
since June when this whole thing started. I was hoping for a break, enjoy the holidays and get caught up, but with her next surgery scheduled for January
6th, that isn't happening either.

I did finally spend a day with friends on Saturday, which was a nice break
from my current routine.

Finally turned the heat on. It was 56 in here when I got home tonight.
Since the upcoming days will only have mid40s for highs and little or no
sun, I thought I should go ahead and turn it on. I am trying to keep my
usage low as the forecast for gas for the home is not supposed to be that
good for this winter. I have winterized a bit. Half my house has new
windows, but the bedrooms still have the old windows. I've put 1-inch
thick
R-5 insulation in those windows. I wonder though if, by blocking the sun
from those rooms (if & when it bothers to shine in January), does it reduce

the warmth it might get from the sun.

Not much going on here, Bonnie.

Kinda chilly--low 50s--but I did a bit of weeding in the raised beds
this morning. Nichols Garden Nursery's 2009 catalog arrived Saturday,
so I started thinking about next year.

Which reminds me--Ever read Katharine S. White's "Upward and
Onward in
the Garden"? She wrote reviews of nursery and seed catalogs for the
New Yorker and this book is essentially a collection of those reviews.
Very entertaining.
