RE: HGTV show now plant sale

Thanks Daryl for the link.  I just love the shape of the valley oaks,
granted it would probably take my great grand children before they see
anything more than a foot in diameter for the trunk, but oh well.  The tree
in my front is some kind of ash- someone here guessed at Modesto Ash
particularly given it's proneness to cankers.  So, I know at some point that
tree will croak- so hopefully if I plant the valley oak nearby now, it will
at least be a little tree by the time the Ash dies eventually.

The Sky Blue Salvia is a guaranitica.  I don't know Argentina skies- so have
no means of comparison.  The Sky blue has very vivid blue, fairly large
flowers.  Not a sky blue color at all, actually a very rich royal blue.

Your grass sounds like our Bermudagrass. Little short of nuking will get rid
of that stuff. I once had a tarp with a truckload of woodchips on it. The
darn Bermudagrass runner ran 20' underneath it and came up on the other
side.

I'm a Salvia nut, though many of them aren't hardy here. How does 'Sky Blue'
compare to 'Argentina Skies'? Is it also a Salvia guaranitica or something
else?

I had to look up Valley Oak. You're certainly planting for the future. One
website said that trees with 3 to 4 foot diameter trunks are only 150-250
years old, and that they can get up to 100 feet tall and have a trunk 9 feet
in diameter. That must really be something to see. And those acorns could
put a world of hurt on you at 2" long. There's some good information about

interested. Also some links to photos of really neat galls.
