Re: Re: *sigh*

Not older, Kitty. Old. Crabby OLD guy. I got an e-mail from a college classmate day before yesterday, and he asked "I would like to know how you find old age in a world so much worse than the one we thought was so [bleeping] awful when we first met"?

Experience, I guess. You watch the slow erosion of personal and public liberties, and it makes you crabby. Well, at least, makes me crabby. How it makes you is your business--so long as your business remains your business.

Jim,
What are the steps between better adjusted young adult to crabby older guy?

I didn't have much choice when I went in the service, but when I think
back at that time, I see a old child/young man who was ignorant,
unskilled, out of school, and poor. The service may have been the best
option I had. And, of course, I was better adjusted when I came out--I
was 3 years older, to begin with and aging, responsibility, and pocket
money have a way of turning old children into young adults.

I know the feeling well, Jesse. Just know that he will be supported

for us,

really
came out a much stronger, better adjusted person. This just seems to
be
something that some young men have to do. Now we've been there with
two grandsons. I know how hard it is for you to accept, but believe

there could be far worse. Be proud of him.
