Re: Sambucus "Black Beauty & Black Lace"

Daryl,
I think it did say that you could cut it back pretty good if it got too big. I was thinking that I would want to trim it like a tree... would that work if your is 'rangy'?

I have 'Black Beauty.' Got them at the Garden Writer's conference a few
years ago.

It's pretty rangy and loses it's foliage early. I think it will need to be cut back severely every
year or so. Does the article say anything about that?

I just saw a couple of pictures of these too shrubs. Wow... has anyone
seen them yet?
Sambucus "Black Beauty" has been out since 2000 but "Black Lace" is coming
out in 2006.
I get a newsletter from About.com Gardening Guide that has an interesting
article on "Black Foliage Shrubs to Add Color to Your Garden".
If you are interested I can forward the e-mail to you.
I love Elderberries anyway and this one looks exciting.
