OT: A different kind of cat story

A couple of weeks ago in our church, a little girl was baptized. Her name
is Ashley. She's 4 years old, and has leukemia. She's had 2 failed bone
marrow transplants and the prognosis is poor. The father is out of the
picture, her mother and grandmother have had great worry and financial
difficulty with the medical bills, and Ashley has had terribly painful
reactions to the chemotherapy. Despite that, she was radiant; smiling
broadly, dark eyes glistening, and morning sunlight shining from her bald
head like a halo as she and her little sister greeted the congregation.

In church this morning, one of the choir members rose and handed an envelope
to the minister. She had been telling a neighbor about little Ashley and
church members' efforts to help the family , and the neighbor's young son
overheard. The next day, there was a knock on the chorister's door. The
neighbor boy handed her an envelope with a hand-written card and $50. The
youngster was donating all of his wages from faithfully caring for his
neighbor's cat before and after school for more than 2 weeks!

There wasn't a dry eye in the house.
