And, it should be interesting with your Mahonia.  I love hollies.  I have
one that came from a seedling found at my parent's place before they had to
go into assisted living and several decidious.  Right now, the berries on
them are bright red although they still have leaves...we haven't had our
frosts yet...seems late.
