I used to prepare "formal" press releases when I did them for work, but in the past years I have simply e-mailed newspapers,.or individual reporters if I had a name, with the pertinent information. Everything has always gotten in print regardless of the format sent. You might try calling the various media outlets to find out how they would prefer to receive your information.

Does anyone have any experience with community event press releases? I'm getting ready to "alert the media" to a St. Nicholas Event open to the Dayton area and I want to make it as professional as possible.
