Jesse, I think about Neal every day, and I'm sending him and all our loved ones in the Middle East protection everyday. I look forward to the safe return of all of them. I cannot imagine how stressful it must be for their families.
Today I'm off to the ag center for pumpkin picking and washing. Our ornamental horticulturist raises over 80 varieties of pumpkins every year. This will be a good day.

Hey Donna (and group). Neal signed up for 4 years. This is his last year. When he returns from his second tour over there, he'll have 6 weeks left as a Marine (unless he re-inlists, and he better NOT!). I'll be so glad when he gets back. It is so stressful on families when their loved ones are over there. I try not to dwell on the negative, but send thoughts of protection and a safe return, all in one piece!!! Once he gets over there - I can't watch the news, or sad stories - or ANY of that because it's just too much. I have to remain focused on the positive.Donna <gossiper@sbcglobal.net> wrote:Yipes Pam, you got alot going on there. Can't you wait till all or most ofthe pecans fall and then just rake them up? I am glad to hear Jesse has some time to spend with Neal. Did he sign up for another term? Seems all of our boys terms should be up soon? Who else do we still have over there? Seems like I have been on the go since Labor Day with some fun stuff at least.Although I am extremely tired from it all, today I tackled the front gardenbeds. I decided it was just too much of a mess to deal with and dug it allout under my bay window area. I had thought of saving some stuff, but after looking at it closely, realized there was a lot of damage from this summer. A guy from the older section of town was mulching leaves this morning, so I was able to get a few bags full to add to that section since now nothing is there. It will be bear for the winter and I will figure something out next spring.Off to take a nap and maybe later work some more. Sorry I've been pretty much out of pocket lately. Once the pecans start dropping, I spend hours harvesting them and shucking the hulls in the flower beds, so it ties up a fair part of my evenings. You can't leave them on the ground or you will have the most horrible weed problem you ever saw. Little tiny seedlings w/ taproots to China. They were coming down so fast Sunday I kept getting hit in the back. Like being in a dry hail storm. They're a tad bigger and noticeably heavier this year, must have been the rain we got in May & June. Jesse has been home because her son Neal is in town before he goes back to Iraq next month. I called and got to talk to him night before last. Her computer at home is toast, so she won't be in touch much until she gets back to work next week. I've worked the last 3 or 4 Saturdays, so that gives me even less free time. The new baby is growing like crazy and she is a very sweet girl. I'm very lucky to have her. Have nicknamed the living room the "mine field" because the floor is strewn w/ toys everywhere when I get home. Very difficult to navigate (especially w/ arms full of groceries and mail) until you clear a path every day. Anyone who wants four o'clock seeds holler at me off list, I've got a bumper crop this year. Broke a tooth last week, saving up for a crown. Even w/ insurance they still cost a fortune. Doesn't hurt so no big deal I guess. Not much else new here. Happy fall everyone. It may cool off here in a month, I know the people in the plant at work are looking forward to it. -- Pam Evans Kemp TX zone 8A --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT Jesse R.
