Cathy, I googled "square-stem weed" and came up with a lot of picture-identification sites. You might want to take a look. On the plus side <I guess> I rediscovered horehound, a weed of my youth.

Need some help. A friend has a plant taking over her garden. It is obviously a member of the mint family (square stem). My first guess was perilla/shiso, but unlike most mints, I could detect no fragrance when I crushed the leaves, and there was no fragrance of any sort I could detect, nor was there any taste on chewing a small piece of leaf. Coloration was green, with maybe a hint of purple on the back of the leaf, with a fair amount of serration on the edges. Any ideas??
