I love seeing all the names and reading all the Garden talk too! We bought a house near our son in Stillwater Ok last May! It is in a garden area that the HOA does the mowing. I’m trying to NOT make it hard to take care of but I’ve decided to plant around the mailbox some color/low maintenance shrubs! One Red Oak has lightening strike damage and will need to be cut down. (Quote over $2500)It is rotting on the inside already. One huge pecan is draping over the house and deck in the back where squirrels make big messes everyday! $1425 to take limbs that are the most dangerous to the house out soon! Money I had not planned on spending that way! We are replacing plumbing and painting inside and out! Lots to do but I’m loving living here! I’ve been able to join the Oklahoma Botanic Gardens and volunteer as an Ambassador! I’m meeting lots of wonderful gardeners that like me have given up on our own acreages to work on public gardens! It is great to read what you all are doing now!! Patricia Dickson Zone 7a Payne county Oklahoma On Oct 8, 2018, at 8:37 PM, Jesse Bell <c*@rewrite.hort.net> wrote:

Chris, we are in a villa now due to my inability to maintain my garden. I have only 2 planting’s which are short Asiatics due to the strong winds. Carolyn Sent from my iPad On Oct 7, 2018, at 7:11 PM, Chris Petersen <e*@rewrite.hort.net> wrote:
Carolyn, Do you still grow lilies?

Marathon Lilies are so beautiful. I had many in the garden we left. My garden was on the International Lily Society tour in 2013. We had deer every day but I had more trouble with rabbits chewing on the lilies. Carolyn Magnani Sent from my iPad On Oct 7, 2018, at 5:16 PM, Chris Petersen <e*@rewrite.hort.net> wrote:
So far I’ve planted my first Martagon lilies and a variety of other lilium. I’m having a Regional daylily tour here this coming summer, so I wanted more companion lilium.
We have had deer on Long Island the past few years. I use Milorganite and frequent spraying with Liquid Fence to keep the deer at bay. It’s s constant struggle, but for the most part, the deer have left my hosta, daylilies and lilium alone. I also spray other favorite perennials and shrubs.
With the wet spring and summer, it’s been hard to keep up with the weeding. Since August I’ve gotten a helper a few hours a week. Not having to work has given me more time to get things in shape, but I have a lot more to do.
What shrubs did you buy Gene?
