Wow...a bear in your breezeway!!!  That's a bit of excitement.  Glad to hear you are finding ways to stay as active as you can after your hip fracture.

I started to respond the other day, but something went wrong with the computer,

so didn't follow up. 

I'm afraid I don't have much positive to contribute to the gardening topics - since

I fell and broke my hip about a year ago I have not been able to get down to my

garden, and things are a real mess.  I am really itching to get out and do some

fall clean-up and bulb-planting, but just can't do it.  Chet can barely walk these

I did mean to contribute to the bulb-planting topics that I have devised a plan to

allow me to grow some tulips - I had given them up since they are just deer-candy.

I find that if I plant the smaller species tulips inside a circle of daffodil bulbs, I have

pretty good luck.  The daffs protect them, as the deer don't eat those, and the species

tulips will come back year after year.  I won't plant any this fall, but I will offer to get

a lot for our church, as I do most years.  I did have pretty good luck with the Caladiums

I bought, as usual, from a Florida wholesaler, for the church, my garden club, and just

to give to friends and put in pots on my doorstep and in the breezeway between the

house and the garage.  Unfortunately, rabbits have found a lot of them.

Speaking of breezeways, a handyman is working in ours right now, repairing the

damage done by the big black bear that I found there a couple of weeks ago.  He

had pulled down the bracket from which I hang bird-feeders and pots of tomatoes.

I was on my way out to fill the bird-feeders when I found him.  Then he came and

looked through the screen door at me.  I didn't go out.  Since the feeders were

about empty, maybe he will think it's not worth coming back.

Once again, it's great to hear from you all again.  I hope it lasts this time.

I see that Chewy (my favorite place to order pet supplies) has several Drinkwell fountains, including a stainless steel one.

Did the platinum have features that steered you that way instead of the original or 360?
